For the fifth time, the Professor Wacław Cybulski Foundation “Safe Mining”, operating at the State Mining Authority, organised the “Safe Division” Contest.

The Jury was composed of the representatives of the State Mining Authority and the Professor Wacław Cybulski Foundation “Safe Mining”, and entrepreneurs from the mining business.

The chairman of the jury was Professor Krzysztof Cybulski. The following factors were considered while selecting the leaders of safety: the number of accidents, work conditions of particular divisions and the results of controls performed by the mining supervision authority. The 12 winners of this year’s edition included the ventilation division of our mine. During the past 12 months, this division did not receive any fines and ended another year without any accident at work.

The Jury awarded the ventilation division of LW Bogdanka S.A. for safe work and measures aimed at increasing work safety in mining in 2014.

 

 

The Ventilation Division employs:
- 8 medium-level supervisors and 1 low-level supervisor,
- 125 employees.

The division secures three mining fields in terms of ventilation (3 ventilation subnetworks), i.e. the Bogdanka, Nadrybie and Stefanów fields. Works performed by the ventilation division are located near the preparatory and mining divisions, as well as in the remaining areas of the mine.

Despite the fact that the ventilation division of LW Bogdanka S.A. conducts works in the conditions of the mining and preparatory divisions within the entire mine, covers tens of kilometres every day, and reacts to any increase of risk sufficiently in advance, it has for several years now been holding a “clean slate” with respect to accidents at work. The great awareness of the work safety of the division results from continuous staff trainings, conducted by the supervision, directly at the workplace.
