![]() Within more than 35 years, we have produced a total of 150 million tonnes of commercial coal. This round figure shows the scale of the Company's activity and its market significance. It should be remembered that the mining of raw coal was, at the time, accordingly higher, said Sławomir Karlikowski, acting President of the Management Board, Vice-President of the Management Board in charge of Production, Manager of Mining Supervision in Mining Facility at LW Bogdanka S.A. |
This is the next symbolic result of the Lublin-based mine. The Company has reported recently that in the Stefanów Field, one of Bogdanka's three mining fields, the millionth skip of output was transported through shaft 2.1. A skip is a case used for vertical transport of raw coal, capable of holding 40 tonnes of output at one time, i.e. coal before cleaning processes which take place in coal preparation plants.
The mine from Lublin has gradually been reaching its current annual production capacity. In recent years, annual production of coal in Bogdanka amounted to around 9 million tonnes. In line with the Company's strategy, an average annual production in 2016–2025 will amount to 9.2 million tonnes. After three quarters of 2017, Bogdanka’s share in the market of thermal coal sales accounted for 17.7%, and its share in the market of thermal coal sales to commercial power plants accounted for 25.5%.
Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. is the only mine in the Lublin Coal Basin which extracts hard coal. The Company conducts mining operations within the mining area of Puchaczów V which covers 73 km2. It possesses three excavating fields: in Bogdanka, in Nadrybie, and in Stefanów. In autumn 2017, the Company obtained from the Minister of the Environment a mining licence for extraction of hard coal from the Ostrów deposit in the Ludwin Mining Area.
