More work passes awarded by LW Bogdanka!

Wednesday, 2019-08-07

LW BOGDANKA S.A., the most modern and effective hard coal mine in Poland, making part of the Enea Group – one of the leaders of the Polish power market, has awarded “LW Bogdanka Work Passes” to yet another 11 best secondary school graduates with technical-mining specialisation from around Bogdanka: the Mining School Complex in Łęczna and the School Complex in Ostrów Lubelski.

We have already employed 41 graduates of partner schools as part of the LW Bogdanka S.A. Work Pass – We Need The Best! project launched in 2017. Cooperating with the schools, LW Bogdanka has also granted 74 scholarships for students boasting good grades in technical subjects. More scholarships will be awarded this September.

Cooperation with secondary schools from the vicinity of LW BOGDANKA S.A. is part of the Human Resources Development Strategy, which aims at recruiting the best graduates of those schools to work at our mine. Another part of the strategy is cooperating with major mining research centres in Poland, including AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

LW Bogdanka permanently cooperates with the Mining School Complex in Łęczna, the School Complex in Ostrów Lubelski, and, from this past February, also with the Stanisław Staszic Energy and Transportation School Complex in Chełm.

Apart from the scholarship programme and the LW Bogdanka S.A. Work Pass – We Need The Best! initiative, our cooperation with secondary schools includes vocational training practice through allowing the students to complete practical classes and vocational placements in our mine. In 2018 we launched a professional support programme for teaching staff, as well. It gives the teachers of technical subjects an opportunity to visit the undergrounds of the mine with Bogdanka employees, observe their work and broaden their own knowledge. We have given teachers access to our tool shop, where they can borrow tools required for their classes.

LW BOGDANKA S.A. remains one of the most modern hard coal mines in Poland for a reason – high competences of our personnel allow us to introduce new solutions applied by the international mining sector. We believe that the constant professional development of our current employees and gradual recruitment of young, ambitious and talented people is the key to maintaining high technical skill among our staff members and strengthening Bogdanka’s position as the most effective mine in Poland - said Artur Wasil, President of the Management Board of LW Bogdanka S.A.
