St. Barbara’s Day 2013

At Bogdanka, we celebrated St. Barbara’s Day 2013. As usually, the Miner’s Day was inaugurated with a performance of a colliery band for the citizens of Łęczna. It was followed by a holy mass during which the miners thanked their patron St. Barbara for a successful year.

The main events of St. Barbara’s Day took place at Bogdanka, in the pithead building.

Bogdanka Dazzled at the Coal Round Table in Brussels

It seems, however certainty is still far away, that in the view of such strong promotion of the renewable sources in recent years, the attitude of the united Europe towards good old coal has been changing. At the end of September, we had an opportunity to see it for ourselves when we sat as special guests at the Coal Round Table in the European Parliament.

ECOFORUM 2013 “Environment in the First Place”

We are hereby happy to inform you that from 19 to 20 September 2013, Lublin is going to play host to the 4th edition of the International Conference ECOFORUM “Environment in the First Place” (“Po pierwsze środowisko”). Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. is a proud co-organiser and partner of the event.

One of the presented sessions includes lectures and a debate with regard to construction of a smart (deep) mine in the future, in the context of regional development and environment protection. The session will be moderated by Zbigniew Stopa (President of the Management Board of LW Bogdanka S.A.) and Jerzy Kicki from the AGH University of Science and Technology.

Dziennik Wschodni – The Golden Hundred 2012 - Bogdanka Among the Largest Companies in the Lublin Region

dw2013_ranking_180On Friday (21 June 2013), in the Manor House Anna in Jakubowice Konińskie near Lublin, representatives of Dziennik Wschodni (daily newspaper appearing in the Lublin region) awarded the laureates of the Ranking of the Largest Companies in the Lublin Region – The Golden Hundred 2012. The ranking was organised for the seventeenth time in a row.
LW Bogdanka S.A. was located on the steady 5th place in the ranking.

After European Economic Congress

The last day of the three-day (13-15 May) European Economic Congress in Katowice saw the discussion of the mining industry. Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. was a partner and co-host of the “Hard Coal Mining” session. Zbigniew Stopa, President of the Management Board, participated in the discussion on behalf of our Company, while Witold Daniłowicz, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Krzysztof Szlaga, Member of the Management Board, represented us during the congress.
